First Anniversary of The Welcome Centre

Officers Celebrate The First Anniversary of The Welcome Centre
The Met Police Neighbourhood Link office reported in their recent bulletin on the local community support provided for police during the riots last summer:

On Thursday 9 August 2012, officers from Hoe Street SNT attended The Welcome Centre which is on Church End, E17 to celebrate its first anniversary.

The Welcome Centre played an important role during last years London disorder, providing accommodation to police officers who were unable to travel back home due to finishing late at night, or tiredness having worked long hours. Volunteers also kindly brought in food and drink for the officers who were using the facility.

PCSO Francesca Frisenda from Hoe Street SNT said “The first anniversary went very well and many people including off-duty officers attended in their own time to say their thanks to everyone involved. This event showed great community sprite and how well local people can pull together and help each other in times of need”.
