“Walthamstow is improving by the day,” says resident Lauren McCrory. “Now I’ve heard that house viewings are very competitive.” Indeed, some report seeing queues around the block to see each new house on the market. “We’ve got Stella Creasy as our MP, which is cool because she’s good on women and campaigning about payday loans,” adds McCrory, “and there’s so much food and art. There’s The Village, which is like a little part of the countryside. And then, if you don’t want to feel like you’re living in a glossy magazine, go up near the Tube for old, vibrant Walthamstow, with pubs and the best market ever.”

Walthamstow Labour Party is delighted to announce Alastair Campbell as special guest at our fundraising ‘Curry with a Spin’
on Thursday, 27th February, at 7.30pm, at The Asian Centre, 18a Orford Road, Walthamstow E17 9LN (Bus W12, or 8 mins walk, from Walthamstow Central Bus Station - Victoria Line tube, or overground from Liverpool St.)
Curry (with vegetarian options). Raffle. Alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks at donation bar. All Labour supporters are very welcome - party members, & non-members alike. All proceeds from ticket sales, raffle tickets, and donations go to the Walthamstow Constituency Labour Party campaign account.
Alastair Campbell is best known for his work as Director of Communications and Strategy for prime minister Tony Blair between 1997 and 2003. Before that he worked as a journalist at The Mirror, and then political editor at Today, leaving in 1994 shortly after Blair became leader of the Labour Party to become his spokesman; by March 1997, many of the leading newspapers – including The Sun, once strongly pro-Thatcherite – had declared their support for Labour
