Chand Raat Bazar- Monday 3 June
EMR are proud to present Walthamstow’s first ever Chand Raat Bazar at the Pavilion at 324 Hoe St on Monday 3 June from 6pm-11pm. This will feature local businesses and opportunities for local craft workers to sell their wares as part of an evening full of fun and countless food choices and many more activities for kids. 30 plus people will be displaying their stalls of different kind of food, Asian clothes, jewellery, henna and many more. Entry is totally free for all people.
Red Imp Previews with John Robbins & Michael Legge, Monday 3 June
Red Imp, our local comedy club, is back with more shows on Monday 3rd June at 8.30pm. The show features John Robbins - Hot Shame, Edinburgh Comedy Award winner, digital DJ, vibe-magnet, yells into a well and Michael Legge- The Idiot, the angriest man in UK comedy. Zero Waste Pattern Cutting Workshop, Thursday 6 June
Zero-Waste Pattern Cutting is a fun and exciting method of creative pattern cutting, working together with material to eliminate waste. Free Therapeutic Weaving Workshops - Friday 7 June
These workshops are for people with memory impairment and their family or friends and will be taking place at 1 Hoe Street on Friday 7th June between 11am to 12.30pm. Run by local award winning weaver Rezia Wahid and experienced art therapist Sarah Barbee, participants will weave into frames prepared by Rezia, on their own or in pairs. The technique is adaptable to every individual. The workshops are relaxing and a way of trying something new together in a friendly and supportive group in a new creative centre. Blackhorse Road Street Party - Saturday 8 June
There will be a Blackhorse Road Street Party on the corner of Blackhorse Lane and Clifton Avenue outside Armstrong Audio on Saturday 8th June between 12-6pm. All welcome to attend and there will be food, music and drink.

AHEAD Sponsored Charity Bike Ride and Walk- Saturday 8 June
AHEAD is a local charity initiating and supporting projects aimed at combating poverty and inequalities in health, education and development in Ethiopia. The charity also addresses needs of disadvantaged members of society in London through advice, guidance and training. Each year, they organise an annual sponsored charity bike ride and walk event. At the moment AHEAD are focusing on equipping a hostel they built for orphan girls and seeking to save up to build a second hostel. You can join AHEAD’s sponsored charity bike ride or walk starting which starts from Elmfield Road at 9.30am on Saturday 8th June. If you cannot join, you can still sponsor them and make donation. E17 Designers Summer Weekend @ The E17 Art Trail, Saturday 8 June and Sunday 9 June
One weekend, two dates, fifty makes, artists and designers! On day one Saturday 8th June between 10am to 5pm at One Hoe Street there will be an E17 Designers’ Maker Market, with creative makers with jewelry, clothing, ceramics, cards and Suzie Cakes. On day two Sunday 9th June between 11am to 5pm there will be a Book-ish Ark Market with illustrators and book-art, magazines and fanzines, handmade books, poetry books and pamphlets, fine art prints and posters, stationery and more! Both Saturday and Sunday Campbell Creative are hosting a flipbook workshop with sequence stamps for even young children. £5 per book with about 25-30 pages. Gaybourhood East Pride Family Event- Sunday 23 June
Put on your dancing shoes for Gaybourhood East’s first LGBTIQA+ Pride family focussed event on Sunday 23rd June featuring live music, 70s disco tunes, superhero craft activities and a no-holds-barred dance-off! Family Fun Day - Saturday 29 June
Watermark Resident's Association are hosting a free family fun day in Mill Gardens, 26 Sutherland Road (5 minutes from Blackhorse Road Station), from 1pm to 5pm on Saturday 29th June. Featuring activities and games for children and young people (of all ages), information and taster sessions for the adults, and fun, entertainment and stalls for everyone. This event is for the community, from the community and all are welcome to join!
Holy Family Summer Fair- Saturday 29 June
The Friends of Holy Family Catholic School and Sixth Form are holding an afternoon of family fun at their Summer Fair on Saturday 29th June between 12pm to 4pm. Come and join them for games, food stalls, bouncy castle, driving school, homemade cakes & refreshments, football shootouts and Holy Family's Got Talent! A limited amount of outdoor selling tables will be available (in advance only) at a cost of £10.00 to book a table email for a booking form or phone the school on 0208 520 0482. Leytonstone Arts Trail- 6-7 July and 13-14 July
Wanstead Quakers and Friends present 'Lasting Impressions', an exhibition of art at the Quaker Meeting House, Bush Road in Leytonstone on July 6th and 7th and 13th and 14th Julybetween 1-5pm. There will be Poetry Reading on both Sundays from 2 - 4pm. There is a Labyrinth in the garden.

The E17 Art Trail is Now Live - Make Sure You Enjoy The Wonders of Walthamstow!
The E17 Art Trail is now live - this extraordinary locally led arts festival has been running in our local area for fifteen years now. Started off by local residents, it celebrates a wide range of artistic mediums and activities and now draws crowds from across the world. This year there are 205 venues taking part and an estimated 8,500 residents involved in exhibiting in some format.
The Art Trail now runs for two weeks until Sunday 16th June with events, exhibitions, installations and activities throughout - from first time shows in people's front rooms to designer fairs at One Hoe Street to the installation of Artemisia by the National Gallery in Wood Street Library, there is something for every palette! The theme this year is 'Wonder' - the spark of creative energy and curiousity that energises artists and scientists alike.

Resisting Donald Trump Through Solidarity and Action:
Top Trump Targets Campaign and People's Banquet
Donald Trump is due to return to the UK in the coming week - bringing attention to his divisive rhetoric and support for extremist political debate in our country. With the rise of the far right across Europe, it is even more important to challenge his attempts to influence British politics and to show solidarity for those his politics seeks to demean. That's why we're repeating the TopTrumpTargets campaign- encouraging donations to those organisations working with the people Trump targets with his bile as a form of resistance to show whose side Britain is on. There will also be a People's Banquet on Monday 3rd June in Parliament Square at 7pm organised by the Women's Peace Council to coincide with the State Banquet Trump is attending as a form of peaceful protest. New Lloyd Park Silent Disco Fitness Classes
A new silent disco fitness class is starting in Lloyd Park which will use Drum & Bass/Jungle music to get residents moving every Wednesday at 11am. Dance, workout, have fun and stretch at this totally unique mixed ability, achievable, fun and challenging fitness experience. You will be given a clip on mini receiver, into which you can plug your own headphones (aux cables style NOT bluetooth or i-phone). Alternatively the instructor can lend you some cheaper ear bud style headphones. The session is around 75 mins and afterwards attendees head to the cafe for a cuppa or some food. Could You Help Teach English? Timebank Volunteer Request
Timebank have been in touch to say they are looking for local volunteers to help teach basic ESOL (English as a second language) at community venues in London, including in Waltham Forest. Training to be able to do this will take place this summer with classes starting in September. For more information, click here.
Carefree Kids- Could You Help Them Help Local Children?
On Sunday 19 May supporters of
Carefree Kids, a small mental health children’s charity based in Walthamstow, ran the Hackney Half Marathon. They shared why runners chose to run for them on Facebook, and are asking for local residents to take a look at these stories to see if they would be willing to
sponsor their team of unicorns in retrospect. You will be able to do so until the end of June and the money raised will make a big difference in supporting vulnerable children in Waltham Forest.
Walthamstow Village in Bloom Judging Day Announced - Tuesday 25th June
This year, yet again Walthamstow Village is competing in the hotly contested London Village in Bloom competition. Thank you to all the volunteer teams who have been out working on the gardens and pathways in the judging area every weekend for months - the London in Bloom judging day is set for Tuesday 25 June, so please support Walthamstow Village Residents’ Association in their attempt to win by ensuring your front gardens and displays are ready to wow the 2019 judges on this date.
