Statement from Walthamstow Labour Party on antisemitism

At a meeting last night of the Executive Committee of Walthamstow Constituency Labour Party it was agreed to issue the following statement on antisemitism, and the Jewish Labour Movement:
Walthamstow Constituency Labour Party Executive Committee wishes to reaffirm our solidarity with the Jewish community and the Jewish Labour Movement (JLM) as antisemitism in the U.K. continues to rise and is found within our ranks.
Antisemitism has no place in our movement. Labour can only rebuild the trust of the Jewish community by dealing with all complaints and also tackling a culture in which antisemitism has been able to spread – for our part here in Walthamstow we commit to fighting against antisemitism in all its forms and wherever it is found.
The events of the past two weeks have highlighted how vital JLM’s work has been in standing up to antisemitism within our ranks. Every member of our party benefits from the work they do to ensure Jewish members feel welcome in our movement and are able to organise within it, and to empower Labour Party members to act to call out racism when they are confronted with it.

We fully commit to supporting the work done by the JLM and we are proud to be affiliated to them locally as well as nationally. Jewish Labour members will always be wholeheartedly welcome in our CLP and we, alongside Stella Creasy MP, make our pledge to our Jewish comrades to stand with them and speak up in the fight to eradicate antisemitism from the Labour Party.'
