Writing on Facebook Stella Creasy MP said: "Jo Cox was just the best. The very best. Bright, passionate and determined, she was a champion of social justice as well as her beloved Batley and Spen. The world has lost someone who was a real and brave agent of change. And we have lost a mate. A real friend who could make you giggle if she caught your eye in the chamber, who was always wise even when many cooler heads had lost their tempers and was the warmest and kindest person you could ever meet. It's hard to comprehend that she won't be with us anymore - Brendan Cox all our love is with you and your beautiful children and family as our hearts are broken xx"

An anonymous well-wisher left a rose outside the party offices in Orford Road.
